Check Your Water

What well are you drawing from? I am reminded of the woman at the well whom Jesus asked for a drink of water. HE then told her about the water that HE gives to never thirst again. Thirst meaning looking for whom she is and whose she is in other places and things. HE already knew her past but invited her to see herself as HE does by drinking from the well of living water. HE sees us through eyes of love knowing what we have already done- yet offering for us to come drink from HIS well and leave our false identity and thirst behind.

John 4:7-15 ESV A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” (For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” 11 The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock.” 13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.[b] The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”

If you are not drinking from THE Living Water, you will chase everything and anything to fulfill that unquenchable thirst that just cannot be filled any other way.

Verse 26 TPT says: 26 Jesus said to her, “You don’t have to wait any longer, the Anointed One is here speaking with you—I am the One you’re looking for.”[m]

I love how it says, “I am the One you’re looking for”, because that is the absolute truth for all of us. Without HIM we die of thirst spiritually and eventually literally.

There is a song by Lauren Daigle called “This Girl”, and the lyrics say “I’ve searched the world to find my heart is Yours, I’ve searched the world to find what I’m lookin for, I want nothing more.” This is truly my story. There is no place I didn’t run or look to to fill the void inside. And at the end of myself- smack into HIS arms of LOVE just waiting for me to DRINK.

It matters which well we draw from, If yours is not springing up from within you…
